WATER
Water your Alocasia Regal Shield when the top 5 to 10cm of soil is dry. They like their soil consistently moist but not waterlogged as they can be prone to root rot so don’t allow them to stand in water.

LIGHT
Alocasia Regal Shield prefer lots of bright indirect light. They can tolerate some morning or late afternoon direct sunlight but you should avoid direct midday sunlight as this will scorch the delicate leaves.

FERTILISING
You can feed your Alocasia Regal Shield once every 2 to 4 weeks during the spring and summer months.

SOIL
Alocasia's like a well draining mix that retains some moisture. Visit our soil bar to add perlite, orchid bark and vermiculite to a standard soil mix.

TEMPERATURE
All Alocasia's like to be warm and hate cold draughts, but also be careful to not let them sit to close to a radiator in the winter months.

HUMIDITY
Your Alocasia Regal Shield will love increased humidity. To achieve this use a humidifier, pebble tray, or group it with other plants. We don't recommend misting.

TOXICITY
Considered toxic to humans and and animals.

General Watering Tips

Place your plant, still in its plastic nursery pot, inside the decorative pot you've chosen. This setup allows the plant to enjoy the drainage and airflow provided by the nursery pot's holes, which are beneficial for root health.

When it’s time to water, you have two options:

1. Top Watering: Take the plant, nursery pot and all, out of the decorative pot and water it over a sink. Allow the water to drain completely before placing it back in the decorative pot to prevent water build up.

2. Bottom Watering: Place the nursery pot in a shallow dish of water and let the plant absorb moisture from the bottom. This method encourages the roots to grow downward and reduces the risk of overwatering.

Both methods help keep your plant healthy by promoting good drainage and root aeration.
