STREPTOCARPUS PRETTY TURTLE
This flowering plant has deep green leaves with veining that resembles a turtle shell.

WATER
Keep the soil evenly moist, but never soggy. Water when the top 5cm of soil feels dry feels dry. Allowing the soil to dry out completely can damage the roots, while too much water leads to rot. It is best to water this plant from the base to avoid getting the leaves wet.
LIGHT
Streptocarpus thrives in bright, indirect light. Too much direct sunlight will scorch the leaves, while too little light reduces blooming and causes leggy growth.
FERTILISING
You can feed your Streptocarpus every two to three weeks during the spring and summer months.
SOIL
Streptocarpus prefer a light and airy mix . Visit our soil bar to add Perlite and Vermiculite to a standard houseplant mix.
TEMPERATURE
Streptocarpus prefer to be warm, most household temperatures will be fine as long as they are away from any cold drafts, radiators or air conditioning.
HUMIDITY
Streptocarpus prefer average humidity. Do not be tempted to mist as this can cause fungal issues and rot on the leaves.
TOXICITY
Streptocarpus are considered non toxic to humans and animals.
General Watering Tips
Place your plant, still in its plastic nursery pot, inside the decorative pot you've chosen. This setup allows the plant to enjoy the drainage and airflow provided by the nursery pot's holes, which are beneficial for root health.
When it’s time to water, you have two options:
1. Top Watering: Take the plant, nursery pot and all, out of the decorative pot and water it over a sink. Allow the water to drain completely before placing it back in the decorative pot to prevent water build up.
2. Bottom Watering: Place the nursery pot in a shallow dish of water and let the plant absorb moisture from the bottom. This method encourages the roots to grow downward and reduces the risk of overwatering.
Both methods help keep your plant healthy by promoting good drainage and root aeration.
